Tour Description
Before becoming one of the top touristic destinations in Europe, Sorrento Peninsula was a land of farmers and fishermen: locals lived in small villages on the hills surrounded by the mediterranean bush and lemon groves. As the land is hilly, to cultivate it, farmers built terraces where they grew olive trees and vegetables: those terraces with big old farmhouses on hilltops are the distinctive feature of the Sorrento Peninsula landscape.
This food tour will lead you to discover the old farmers world, far from the touristic crowds and the town noise. Our e-bike tour will start from Sorrento and head towads Massa Lubrense: we wil cycle along the hilly roads, immersed in the mediterranean scrub, through ancient villages while looking at wonderful panoramas of the Gulf of Naples.
Our ride will end in the small hamlet of Santa Maria Annunziata, right in front of Capri where it seems the time stopped. Here, immersed in the nature, stands an old remodeled farmhouse whose owner, Guglielmo, works to keep agricultural traditions alive and to share them with tourists and friends.
Guglielmo will open the doors of his world, showing us the farmhourse, the lemon and fruit groves and the panoramic terrace. The pride of the farmhouse is the vinegar cellar where he produces a delicious balsamic vinegar, a rarity in the Sorrento Peninsula. We will have the chance to visit the cellar, learn about the balsamic vinegar production process and, finally, taste it. The visit will end with a light lunch with delicious typical products of the Sorrento Peninsula and vegetables that Guglielmo personally grows.
An experience not to miss if you would like to immerse yourself in the local culture and to avoid the classical touristics activities. It will be feeel like going back to a more authentic past when life was slow.
